SHREVEPORT, Louisiana — Shreveport police say a man was shot and killed when officers responded to a call from a woman who said she and another woman were being held at gunpoint by a male relative.
Police spokesman Bill Goodin said in a news release the women told officers the man had held them since approximately 4 a.m. Sunday, but finally left the home just before 11 a.m. and they called police.
Police located the man nearby. He fired several shot at officers before fleeing.
After a short chase, Goodin says the man turned and fired at officers again, and they returned fire.
Goodin says the man was taken to University Health where he died.
Police have not released the man's name. The four officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave.
