PASCAGOULA, Mississippi — Seven months into construction of the $27 million Jackson County jail, all auger pilings are complete for the foundation and a portion of the slab will be poured this week.
Later in the week, The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1rjQmZo ) one of the prefabricated cells will be delivered to the property to make sure all connections align.
Red, iron support beams -- the structural steel -- have been delivered to the site in downtown Pascagoula.
Jeff May, managing the project with Michael Baker Jr Inc., says so far, there have been 51 rain delays in the project since the first of the year, but it is still on target to be complete by the end of May.
May says contractors are exactly where they need to be.
