NEWARK, New Jersey — A new poll finds Gov. Chris Christie's approval ratings have dipped slightly for the first time in sixth months.
The Monmouth University/Asbury Park Press Poll out Wednesday finds 46 percent of respondents approve of Christie's performance as governor. That's down slightly from June, when his approval rating stood at 50 percent.
Pollster Patrick Murray says resentment about Christie's frequent out-of-state travel and growing presidential buzz may be more to blame for the shift than the George Washington Bridge scandal.
Nearly 60 percent of residents polled say it's time for the legislative committee investigating the traffic disruptions to wrap up its work. But a similar number think Christie hasn't been completely honest about what he knows about the matter.
The poll of 802 New Jersey adults has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
