DENVER — A man convicted of wounding his estranged wife, killing her neighbor and setting several makeshift explosive devices in southwest Denver has been sentenced to 48 years in prison.
The Denver District Attorney's Office says 33-year-old Daniel Abeyta was sentenced Monday on charges of second-degree murder, first-degree assault and child abuse. He was convicted in June.
Prosecutors say Abeyta wounded his wife, Autume Estrada, and killed her neighbor, Sandra Roskilly, in August 2013. After the slaying, he was shot by police after they say he fired at a propane tank with gunpowder on top.
Abeyta pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
