NAPAKIAK, Alaska — The body of a 28-year-old southwest Alaska man has been recovered from the Johnson River.

Alaska State Troopers say Benjamin Beaver Jr. of Bethel and a juvenile were traveling Friday from Napakiak (na-PAK'-ee-ak) to Atmautluak (at-MOWT'-loo-ak) when their boat struck a sandbar.

The boat sank. The juvenile made it to shore and was taken to Napakiak.

Beaver's body was found in the river late Monday night. An autopsy in Anchorage has been scheduled.

Napakiak is on the north bank of the Kuskokwim River about 15 miles southwest of Bethel.
