Wheeling Park High educator is named West Virginia Teacher of the Year

CHARLESTON, West Virginia — The 2015 West Virginia Teacher of the Year is an English teacher at Wheeling Park High School.

Gail Adams was honored Wednesday night during a ceremony in Charleston. Each county teacher of the year also was recognized at the event.

Adams has taught for 10 years. She also is the assistant coach of Wheeling Park's Interscholastic Forensic League, which has won seven state championships.

The West Virginia Department of Education says Adams will receive an educational technology package valued at nearly $15,000. She also will have use of a Toyota car for a year and will receive cash awards from Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Horace Mann Insurance.
