PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — Providence police say they have made an arrest in last week's shooting death of a man outside a market.

Police said in a statement on Monday that 21-year-old Zackery Khamvonga was taken into custody by detectives on Sunday.

No other details were given but the statement said the investigation was continuing.

The victim, 22-year-old Anthony Mitchell, was fatally shot last Wednesday afternoon as he left the Rodriguez Meat Market and Grocery on Hartford Avenue with another man.

Mitchell was from New York City but had been living in Lincoln.
