BENSON, Arizona — Authorities have arrested two men suspected of smuggling more than 90 pounds of marijuana in southern Arizona.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says that officers in Benson conducted a traffic stop Tuesday around 9:45 a.m. of a vehicle suspected of suspicious activity.

DPS says the driver, 20-year-old Angel Sandoval, admitted to carrying marijuana in the trunk.

Officers seized four bales worth $77,000.

Sandoval, of Avondale, and 19-year-old Mark Nunez, of Litchfield Park, were booked into Cochise County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana for transportation and sale.

Additional charges are pending.

Two other men discovered in the vehicle's backseat were found to be in the country illegally.

According to DPS, they have been turned over to U.S. Border Patrol.
