Police: man wounded in Providence shooting, other gunshots reported

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — Providence police are investigating an overnight shooting in which a man was wounded.

WJAR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1A7K5oO) police say that a man in his 20s was shot in the lower abdomen around 2 a.m. Sunday near Broad and Aldrich Streets. He drove himself to a hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Police then were called to the 1200 block of Broad Street for a second report of shots fired. Police said witnesses said a black Jeep was involved in both incidents.

Police responded to a third call for shots fired on Bridgham Street around 4 a.m. No one was hurt in that incident. Witnesses told officers four shots were fired from a black Acura that drove away.
