BEAR, Delaware — Delaware State Police have arrested two suspects in a shooting at a shopping center parking lot in Bear.

Police announced Sunday that troopers have arrested 18-year-old Brandon Burns of Newark and 23-year-old Rebecca Evans of Newark. Police say Burns shot a 23-year-old man once on Saturday morning in the back seat of a car. Police say Burns and Evans were meeting with the man in order to buy heroin.

The shooting victim fled to a nearby business and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police say Burns and Evans were arrested Saturday night without incident. Investigators say there had been an attempt to destroy evidence in the case.

Burns is charged with attempted robbery, assault and firearms charges. Evans is charged with hindering prosecution.
