3 killed in collision between Philippi fire truck and SVU

PHILIPPI, West Virginia — West Virginia State Police are investigating a wreck involving a Philippi fire truck that killed three people.

State police say in a news release that all three victims were in a sport utility vehicle that collided with the fire truck. Five firefighters were evaluated at a local hospital and released.

The accident occurred Tuesday night as the firefighters were responding to a structure fire.

Witnesses told investigators that the fire truck was traveling southbound on U.S. 250 when the SUV pulled into its path from 4-H Camp Road. State police say the fire truck's lights and siren were activated at the time.

State police identified the victims as 75-year-old Joseph Kuzinar, 65-year-old Diane Kuzinar and 38-year-old Jessica L. Paczal, all from the Morgantown area.
