EL PASO, Texas — Aaron Jones ran for 168 yards and scored two touchdowns to help Texas-El Paso beat New Mexico State 42-24 Saturday night.

Jones has surpassed 100 yards in all three games this year for UTEP (2-1).

Tyler Rogers threw a 57-yard touchdown pass to Teldrick Morgan to bring New Mexico State (2-1) within two scores early in the fourth quarter. But UTEP answered with a 70-yard touchdown drive, completed by Jones' 1-yard punch-in that took 7:25 off the clock. New Mexico State was intercepted on the ensuing possession, and UTEP scored again to take a 42-17 lead.

Jameill Showers was 13 of 16 for 126 yards, threw for one touchdown and ran for another. Nathan Jeffery added 79 of the 344 yards UTEP gained on the ground.

Rogers threw two touchdown passes and ran for one score, amassing 324 passing yards. He was intercepted twice.
