Oklahoma police say up to 8 students injured in school bus accident in Okmulgee County

MORRIS, Oklahoma — Oklahoma highway patrol officials say up to eight students from Morris Public Schools suffered minor injuries after a vehicle struck the back of a school bus.

The Oklahoman reports (http://bit.ly/1uLiUsD ) the crash happened about 7:45 a.m. Monday. Superintendent James Lyons of Morris Public Schools says the bus was carrying students from the district's elementary, middle and high schools.

Police say none of the students were taken to the hospital and that parents were notified.

Authorities say the bus, which was carrying 20 students, was traveling on state highway 62 in Okmulgee County. When the bus slowed down to turn onto a different road, a vehicle struck the back of the bus. Police say the vehicle was following the bus too closely.
