ANCHORAGE, Alaska — National Park Service officials say crews have begun the yearly clearing of the 92-mile road into Denali National Park and Preserve.

Officials say crews are expecting to deal with less snow and more overflow ice than usual this year.

Besides clearing the road of ice and snow, crews also will be steaming open culverts clogged by ice and repairing any damages that occurred over the winter.

Travelers should expect to encounter heavy equipment around the road.

The road could open to Savage River at mile 15 by early April and to the Teklanika River rest area at mile 30 by mid- to late- April.
