SELLERSBURG, Indiana — More than 300 relatives and other mourners filled a funeral home during services for a 21-year-old Marine from southern Indiana who died after bailing out of an aircraft over the Persian Gulf.

Many people also lined the roads saluting and waving American flags during the procession Wednesday taking the body of Cpl. Jordan Spears to Sellersburg Cemetery for burial.

The military says Spears bailed out of the MS-22 Osprey after takeoff Oct. 1 from the USS Makin Island for operations against the Islamic State group.

Nina Smith tells the News and Tribune (http://bit.ly/1vTvJmK ) her cousin was a kind man who always wanted to join the Marines.

Silver Creek High School Principal Mike Crabtree says Spears' photo will remain on the school's patriots wall where it's been since his 2011 graduation.
