BURLINGTON, Vermont — Two hikers have been rescued after one fell about 60 feet down a rocky embankment into Lake Champlain and the other was injured trying to pull her from the water.
The assistant fire marshal for the Burlington Fire Department says the hikers spent the night outdoors at the Rock Point property on Thursday after the fall.
Emergency crews received a 911 call Friday reporting people yelling for help from the bottom of the cliff.
The hikers were rescued by the Coast Guard and firefighters and taken by boat to the Coast Guard Station and then transported to the hospital. Fire officials say they were both conscious and talking but cold and wet from Thursday night's rain.
Fire officials have not released the hikers' names or extent of their injuries.
