FALL RIVER, Massachusetts — A Boston man found guilty for his role in a crash that killed a state trooper has been sentenced to a year in jail.

Anthony Perry Jr. of Hyde Park was sentenced Monday in Fall River after being found guilty earlier this month of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation in the June 2010 death of Sgt. Douglas Weddleton.

The Enterprise ( ) reports that the 51-year-old Perry was also sentenced to three years' probation, lost his driver's license for 15 years, and was fined $1,500.

Prosecutors say Weddleton, a father of four from Brockton, had closed a ramp on Interstate 95 in Mansfield when he pulled over another driver. Investigators say Perry's vehicle struck the first vehicle, pushing it into Weddleton, who died from his injuries.

The other man awaits trial.
