SITKA, Alaska — The bodies of two out-of-state fishing lodge visitors have been recovered after their boat capsized in southeast Alaska.
One of the men called authorities on a cellphone about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, reporting their 18-foot boat capsized about 20 miles south of Petersburg.
Authorities found the bodies about 10 p.m., approximately a half mile apart and about 20 yards and 40 yards offshore of an island.
Alaska State Troopers identified the men as 45-year-old Jonathan Comfort of Clayton, Delaware, and 58-year-old Kenneth Rupprecht of Tamassee, South Carolina.
The Coast Guard tells the Daily Sitka Sentinel (http://is.gd/KdM6IF) the two men said they were wearing lifejackets but didn't have survival suits. Troopers report neither man was wearing a lifejacket when recovered.
Both bodies will be sent to Anchorage for autopsies.
