LARAMIE, Wyoming — There are now 175 firefighters battling a wildfire burning in the Medicine Bow National Forest west of Laramie.
The wildfire near Lake Owen in Medicine Bow National Forest had burned almost a square mile after it began on Monday. It is 80 percent contained.
The fire is about 30 miles southwest of Laramie and is burning in mostly large beetle-killed timber.
Firefighters on Wednesday were being supported by helicopters taking water from Lake Owen and dumping it on hot spots.
Two nearby forest roads are closed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
