COLUMBIA, South Carolina — Hundreds of sex offenders across South Carolina are again subject to some restrictions this Halloween.
Agency spokesman Pete O'Boyle says offenders currently being monitored by the state Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services are under a curfew from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday.
During that time, offenders can't host parties, attend carnivals, give out candy or have their outdoor lights on. Agents will call and drop by some offenders' homes. In some areas, sex offenders are required to report to designated locations.
Last year, O'Boyle says three offenders were arrested for violating curfew, and further restrictions were placed on seven others. He says the agency hopes to assure parents that it's safe to let kids go door-to-door to trick-or-treat as long as they're supervised.
