FRANKFURT, Germany — Eintracht Frankfurt ended Borussia Moenchengladbach's four-match winning streak and held the third-place Bundesliga team to a 0-0 draw Friday.
Moenchengladbach could be overtaken by Bayer Leverkusen when the 29th round is completed over the weekend.
A passionate performance by Frankfurt nearly produced a victory after three winless matches, but Nelson Valdez's header was saved in the first half and Stefan Aigner's effort sailed narrowly off the target in the second.
Moenchengladbach stayed three points ahead of Leverkusen but could fall behind in their battle for a direct slot in the Champions League. Leverkusen plays Hannover on Saturday.
"We should have played faster," Moenchengladbach coach Lucien Favre said.
Eintracht is provisionally eighth.
