DENNIS TOWNSHIP, New Jersey — State officials say a man drowned while swimming in a southern New Jersey lake.

The Press of Atlantic City (http://bit.ly/1nPYFHJ) reports that 48-year-old Manuel Osorio of Wildwood was with family members at Lake Nummy in Dennis Township when he began struggling in the water around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

State park police soon arrived but couldn't immediately find Osorio.

Meanwhile, a passer-by who saw Osorio struggling dove in the water and tried to save him. But that man became fatigued, and Osorio's family members had to pull him from the water.

Divers found and removed Osorio's body later Tuesday. An autopsy was due to be performed Wednesday.
