New state Court of Appeals judge to be given oath during Aug. 25 ceremony

JACKSON, Mississippi — An investiture ceremony for new Court of Appeals Judge Jack L. Wilson of Madison will be held Aug. 25 at the Gartin Justice Building in Jackson.

Mississippi Court of Appeals Chief Judge L. Joseph Lee will administer the oath of office.

Judge Jack Wilson began his duties at the court on July 1. It is traditional to have a formal investiture ceremony at a later time.

Gov. Phil Bryant and Judge Gerald Bard Tjoflat of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Jacksonville, Florida. Wilson was a law clerk for Tjoflat after graduating from Harvard Law School. He served as chief counsel to Bryant.

Bryant appointed Wilson to the judgeship left vacant by the retirement of Judge Larry Roberts of Meridian. The term will expire Jan. 1, 2017.
