HOUSTON — Chris Thomas scored 18 points with seven assists and Texas Southern routed Arkansas-Pine Bluff 78-49 on Monday night.
Thomas was 7 of 10 from the field and the Tigers (8-11, 7-0 Southwestern Athletic) shot nearly 54 percent overall, including 7 of 18 from beyond the arc. David Blanks scored 17 points, Malcolm Riley had 16 and Derrick Griffin added 13 points and 13 rebounds. TSU outrebounded UAPB 38-26.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (4-17, 2-5) was led by Ghiavonni Robinson and Charles Jackson with 11 points apiece, and Devin Berry added 10. The Golden Lions were just 3 of 15 on 3-point attempts.
Texas Southern dominated in the paint, with a 42-24 advantage, and points off turnovers (24-8). The Tigers never trailed, and closed the first half with a 15-3 run to lead 35-20 at the break.
