FLORENCE, South Carolina — A 47-year-old man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend in her Florence home.

Local media outlets report Doni Anderson pleaded guilty to murder on Monday.

Authorities say Anderson shot and killed 34-year-old Kendra Johnson in February 2013 after an argument. A co-worker of Johnson saw her body on the floor through a window after she failed to come to work and called police.

Before he was sentenced, Anderson told the judge he was a good person who made a bad decision and was ready to accept his punishment.

Johnson's family says they still live with the pain of her death and having to raise her 14-year-old son who was left without a mother.
