BEND, Oregon — Leaders from Central Oregon are seeking $2 million in state funding for projects connected with the expansion of OSU-Cascades.
The Bulletin newspaper reports (http://is.gd/zAdoDZ ) that the money is sought to improve Bend's bus infrastructure and to create a business incubator.
The branch campus of Oregon State University is expanding to a four-year institution. Kelly Sparks is the university's associate vice president for finance and strategic planning. She says improved bus service is needed to build a sustainable campus and reduce the number of cars on the road.
The business incubator would be housed in the existing Graduate and Research Center. The funding, if approved, would be used to convert 8,000 square feet of space into classrooms and an event space. That area has previously been rented to outside groups.
