PHOENIX — The remnants of Hurricane Blanca are moving into Arizona and will bring cooler temperatures and a chance of rain to much of the state.

The National Weather Service says what is now a tropical depression began pumping clouds into southern Arizona Monday. It will weaken further as hit heads north into the desert southwest.

Showers are likely in the southwestern Arizona deserts starting Monday evening, with up to a third of an inch in the lower Colorado River Valley.

The system move north into the Phoenix area Tuesday, but rainfall totals are expected to be very small. The weather service predicts only a few hundredths of an inch of rain in Phoenix, with greater amounts in the mountains north and east of the city.
