GULFPORT, Mississippi — A 28-year-old Houston woman found with 2 kilos of cocaine in her car in Harrison County, Mississippi, has been sentenced for being aware of drug trafficking and failing to report it.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1FidD5J) Raquel Sanchez was fined $2,000 and sentenced to two years' probation and eight months of home confinement in U.S. District Court in Gulfport on Thursday. She had been arrested Feb. 10 in the traffic stops of two cars on Interstate 10.

She and her passenger, 29 Juan Edgar Martinez, had been indicted on charges with stiffer penalties. Judge Sul Ozerden sentenced her on a plea deal offered by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Martinez has accepted the same plea deal. His sentencing is Oct. 1.
