WATERLOO, Iowa — A woman and two children have safely escaped from flames that damaged the kitchen of their home in Waterloo.
Waterloo fire battalion chief Marty Freshwater told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier (http://bit.ly/1rlGwDg ) that the fire broke out about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The fire started in the kitchen, Freshwater said, and there was smoke damage throughout the house.
The woman, a 7-week-old child and a 10-year-old all fled without harm, along with a pet cat, he said.
The fire cause is being investigated.
