PHOENIX — Phoenix police have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a man last summer.

Police said Saturday that 27-year-old Sammy Graham has been booked into jail on first-degree murder and one count of a weapons violation.

Graham is accused of killing 23-year-old Jonas Asefaw.

Police say officers found Asefaw at a residence with a fatal gunshot wound just before midnight on June 4. Witnesses reported seeing two men flee the scene.

Sgt. Trent Crump says information from witnesses was slow in coming because of the incident's possible gang ties.

According to Crump, police investigating another homicide came across new information that led to Graham's arrest. However, Graham is only being detained for Asefaw's death.

Investigators believe there are more witnesses and are asking anyone with information to contact police.
