RIO DE JANEIRO — Brazil has added Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista and winger Douglas Santos of Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro to the squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers this month against Argentina and Peru.
Brazil coach Dunga announced the moves on Friday, replacing two injured player — defenders Marcelo of Real Madrid and Marquinhos of Paris Saint-Germain. Marcelo has a left-leg injury, and Marquinhos is out with an injured right thigh.
Brazil faces Argentina on Nov. 12 in Buenos Aires, and plays Peru on Nov. 17 in the northeastern Brazilian city of Salvador.
Brazil has three points from its first two qualifiers. Argentina, the runner-up in the 2014 World Cup, has one point. Peru has lost its first two matches.
