UNIONTOWN, Pennsylvania — A jury deliberated about 30 minutes before deciding a southwestern Pennsylvania man wasn't guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the accidental shooting death of his cousin last year.
Twenty-five-year-old Jeremy Hamborsky, of Connellsville, and his attorney declined comment after Wednesday's verdict in Fayette County.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Kylie Sage had just bought the gun and handed it to Hamborsky as he sat in the rear seat of her pickup while she was driving. Prosecutors contend Hamborsky had been drinking and failed to confirm whether the gun was loaded.
Hamborsky's girlfriend testified that Sage said the gun was unloaded, but another passenger in the truck says he had loaded the gun and told Hamborsky that before Sage handed him the gun.
Hamborsky says he was handling the gun and it went off as the truck rounded a corner.
