CHESAPEAKE, Virginia — Bayshore Concrete Products Corp. plans to close its plant in Chesapeake later this year.
The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1B8sEEN ) reports that the company announced the plant's shutdown on Wednesday. The plant employs 81 workers.
Bayshore says it's working to place employees in jobs at its Cape Charles facility or at parent Skanska USA Civil job sites in the area.
Bayshore manufacturers precast concrete components for use in major infrastructure projects. The company says the Chesapeake property no longer is equipped to serve the market for longer prestressed beams, heavier lift capacities, rail service, and larger or deep water barges.
