BURLINGTON, Vermont — The Vermont Lake Monsters and Oakland Athletics are extending their player-development contract by two years.
The Burlington-based Lake Monsters, which play in Single A New York-Penn League, have been an affiliate of the Oakland A's since 2011.
Lake Monsters Vice President Kyle Bostwick says the organization "is excited to be able to continue to see our guys develop and contribute at the Major League level with Oakland."
A's Vice President and General Manager Billy Beane said Tuesday that the support by the Vermont ownership group and the Burlington community has been outstanding.
The Burlington Free Press reports (http://bfpne.ws/1COmkjA ) that the Lake Monsters finished its 2014 season last week with a record of 33-43.
