JACKSONVILLE, Florida — A central Florida man has died and two others were seriously injured in a high speed car chase with police that ended with a head-on collision.

Putnam County sheriff's deputies say they were pursuing a stolen SUV Saturday night. They tried to pull it over, but said the driver, 20-year-old Romeo Roddrick Staples, refused to stop. As the chase continued, the SUV ultimately crossed the center line and collided head-on with another car.

Authorities said Staples was killed and his passenger, Kebreceia J. Thompson, 20, was hospitalized in serious condition.

Florida Today (http://tinyurl.com/l89pdrf) reports the other driver, 18-year-old Arthur Chloen Elzie Young, was also hospitalized in serious condition.
