DETROIT — An expert who opposes the Michigan wolf hunt speaks this week at two Michigan universities.
John Vucetich's talk is entitled "The Truth About Michigan Wolves: Deconstructing the Myth." The Isle Royale Wolf-Moose Project co-director speaks Friday at Detroit's Wayne State University and Saturday at Allendale's Grand Valley State University.
The Michigan Technological University associate professor will be joined by Michael Markarian. He's Humane Society of the United States' chief program and policy officer.
Voters on Nov. 4 will be able to vote on two laws approved by the Legislature that authorize state officials to schedule wolf hunting seasons.
But lawmakers this summer approved a third measure putting the appointed Natural Resources Commission in charge of deciding about wolf hunts. That law remains even if voters reject the other two.
