The Denver Post reports ( ) 47-year-old Eric Vancoppenolle, a Belgian journalist, was hit in the area of 87th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard early Sunday. He was at the end of a monthlong vacation with his girlfriend.

Prosecutors say a 21-year-old Westminster man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and DUI, but formal charges haven't been filed.

Investigators were led to the man's home by a witness. They found a car in his driveway with extensive damage to the front passenger side of the windshield and scuff marks on the passenger side of the hood.

The man, who investigators say smelled of alcohol and was uneasy on his feet, told officers he didn't remember hitting Vancoppenolle.
