REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Michigan — Authorities are investigating after a house explosion in suburban Detroit left one man injured.
According to authorities and eyewitnesses, the blast happened in Redford Township around 6 p.m. Sunday.
Photos and video from the scene showed piles of smoldering debris where the house used to stand.
Redford Township Fire Department Battalion Chief Steven Norris tells WXYZ-TV (http://bit.ly/1RI0hkd ) signs point to "a gas leak of some sort" as the cause. DTE Energy crews were on the scene shutting off gas to the area. No one was evacuated.
Norris told the station firefighters found one injured man in the debris. Norris says the man was "responding and awake" when he was taken to a hospital.
Police asked people to avoid the area.
