LAFAYETTE, Louisiana — A 32-year-old Morgan City man has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $90,000 over six months from a federally funded nonprofit.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley says Timothy Daigle admitted to U.S. District Judge Richard Haik on Tuesday that as a loan officer for the nonprofit Southern Mutual Help Association in New Iberia, he approved fraudulent loans using the names of friends and associates from Morgan City and New Iberia, and pocketed the money

Finley said in a news release Daigle faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.

Haik did not set a sentencing date in the case.
