SUITLAND, Maryland — The Prince George's County Sheriff's Office has identified the deputy who fatally shot a man after responding to a domestic violence call involving a gun.
The deputy was identified Friday as Kendal Wade, a four-year veteran assigned to the department's domestic violence unit.
Wade was placed on leave pending the outcome of an investigation, per standard procedure.
The sheriff's office said Wade and another deputy were talking to a woman who had called 911 from a Suitland home around 1 a.m. Thursday when a man appeared at the front door and confronted them.
The sheriff's office says Wade shot the man, who later died at a hospital. They declined to say whether the man was armed when he was shot.
The man's identity hasn't been released.
