Police continue search for Huntington Beach swimmer who went missing in strong rip currents

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California — Authorities in Southern California are searching for a man who went missing after swimming in strong rip currents at Huntington Beach.

Huntington Beach police Lt. Kent Ferrin tells City News Service the man was seen struggling in the water Friday and then disappeared.

Lifeguards in boats and a police helicopter searched for the swimmer until 11 p.m.

Rescuers opened the search again Saturday at 6 a.m.

No further details were immediately available.
