Saltillo man's bank robbery trial in US District Court in Aberdeen delayed until Jan. 19

ABERDEEN, Mississippi — A 57-year-old Saltillo man will have a couple of more months to prepare for his federal bank robbery trial.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports ( Chris Cosner was scheduled to go to trial Nov. 30 in U.S. District Court in Aberdeen for the robbery of First American Bank in Saltillo. This week, the court granted a continuance, delaying the trial until Jan. 19.

Cosner allegedly carried a pistol and a pipe bomb into the bank on July 1. He escaped with about $20,000 in cash but dropped the bag after the dye pack exploded. Saltillo Police Chief Grant Bailey captured Cosner about five minutes later.

Officials said Cosner had been out of prison just three weeks at the time of his arrest.

He is currently housed in the Lafayette County Jail.
