BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Police say two men have been shot in the parking lot of a restaurant in Birmingham.

Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/1j3IqcG ) that Jefferson County Chief Deputy Randy Christian says the shooting occurred in the Center Point area after noon Tuesday. Christian says the victims were taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Christian says the men appeared to be sitting in the front of the car when two suspects approached the vehicle and began shooting. He says two other people in the car were not injured.

Christian says the motive behind the shooting is unclear.

Names of the victims have not been released.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
