VALENCIA, Spain — Alex Marquez followed his older brother Marc's success on the track by winning his first Moto3 world championship after finishing third in the Valencia Grand Prix on Sunday.

Marc Marquez had already successfully defended his MotoGP title and the Spaniard won again on Sunday for a record 13 victories this season. That broke Mick Doohan's mark of 12 wins which had stood since 1997.

Jack Miller won the season-ending Moto3 race but could not overcome an 11-point disadvantage against Alex Marquez. The Australian finished second in the overall championship.
