AUGUSTA, Georgia — Authorities say a man has died after being shot by police in Augusta.

The Augusta Chronicle ( ) reports 29-year-old Tyler James Wicks died Monday night at Georgia Regents University Medical Center after being shot in his home.

Deputies were called to Wick's house about 10:20 p.m. Monday where officers found him with an assault rifle. Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Pat Morgan says Deputy Bryan Mealing shot Wicks after he refused to put down the weapon.

The names of three other officers who responded to the scene have not been released.

Deputies were called to the same house in August for a domestic dispute and officers shocked Wicks with a stun gun after he pointed a handgun at them.

The GBI has taken over the investigation.
