MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina — Those planning a fall getaway on South Carolina's Grand Strand this month should be sure to bring their quarters.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/1uVCaXt ) that this month, for the first time, parking meters in downtown Myrtle Beach will be enforced through the end of October.

There are more than 1,800 meters and 18 pay stations in the area from 29th Avenue South to 75th Avenue North.

The change was proposed earlier this year to increase revenues for the city's Downtown Redevelopment Corporation.

Myrtle Beach is the heart of the state's $18 billion tourism industry.
