CHARLESTON, West Virginia — Preliminary figures show Labor Day traffic on the West Virginia Turnpike increased nearly 2 percent compared to the same holiday weekend in 2013.

West Virginia Parkways Authority director of tolls Steve Maynard says traffic data is incomplete because of an Internet outage at the Chelyan toll plaza. The outage prevented the toll plaza from transmitting traffic data and receipts.

Media outlets report that Maynard told the authority on Tuesday that the Ghent toll plaza reported a 2.37 percent increase in traffic compared to 2013. Traffic at the Pax toll plaza rose by 1.34 percent.

No major accidents or traffic backups were reported on the 88-mile toll road.
