MONROE, Michigan — An 18-year-old Michigan woman accused of faking her kidnapping has been arraigned on a charge of causing a false police report to be filed.

The Monroe News reports (http://bit.ly/1txrDzI ) that Hayley Turner appeared Friday in a Monroe County court.

Authorities say Turner claimed she was abducted Aug. 7, just north of Ohio in Bedford Township and was found safe 16 hours later in the Detroit suburb of Ecorse.

Several police agencies searched for Turner. Ecorse police say she lied about being abducted.

Filing a false police report is a felony that carries up to four years in prison upon conviction.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled Wednesday. Turner was released on a personal bond but ordered to live with her parents.

Defense attorney William Godfroy declined to comment after the arraignment.
