LEXINGTON, Kentucky — Competitive bidding brought the week's top price of $2.2 million each for two colts to highlight a day in which six yearlings sold for seven figures at Keeneland's September sale.

A colt by War Front-Gold Vault was the first sales-topper bought by Coolmore's M.V. Magnier. Shadwell Estate Company Ltd. followed by paying $2.2 million for a colt by Tapit-Justwhistledixie, one of three Tapit colts that sold for at least $1 million on Thursday.

Shadwell bought two, paying $1.1 million for a yearling by Tapit-Foxy Danseur. Magnier also purchased a Tapit colt (by Dream Rush) for $1.2 million.

"It's a brilliant pedigree," Magnier said of his purchase in a release. "With Arch, he's a brilliant broodmare sire. You have (Coolmore sire) Uncle Mo (out of an Arch mare), and all his progeny have done very well this week, so if (this yearling is) anywhere along those lines we'll be happy to pay for him."

Mark Casse paid $1.35 million for a Tiznow-Dream Supreme colt, while Royal Oak Farm paid $1.5 million for a filly by Medaglia d'Oro-Dowry as 128 horses sold for $41.5 million in the session.

Book 1 closed Thursday with 13 yearlings sold for at least $1 million. Sales will resume on Saturday and continue through Sept. 21.
