LAS VEGAS — Authorities say one person was found dead and one was treated for cuts at the scene of an apartment fire in Las Vegas.

Deputy Clark County Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan says Las Vegas police are investigating after firefighters doused flames about 6:30 a.m. Monday and found a person dead inside the apartment on Spring Mountain Road near Hualapai (WAHL'-uh-peye) Way. That's about 8 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip.

Firefighters prevented flames from spreading to other apartments.

Buchanan says paramedics treated one person for cuts outside the fire, but the cause of that injury wasn't immediately known.

The identity of the person found in the apartment wasn't immediately released.
